Viktor Mikhailovich Chebrikov ― chairman of the KGB of the USSR (1982-1988), Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee (September 30, 1988 - September 20, 1989), candidate member of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee (December 26, 1983 - April 23, 1985), member of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee (April 23, 1985 - September 20, 1989). Member of the CPSU Central Committee (1981-1990). Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (1974-1989), People's Deputy of the USSR (1989-1991). Army General (1983), Hero of Socialist Labor (1985), laureate of the USSR State Prize (1980). Participant of the Great Patriotic War. Member of the CPSU since 1944.
