Overview

1939, Emsland: Every day, old suitcase maker Grandpa Alfred is besieged by his young Jewish neighbor Samuel in his suitcase shop. The boy has only one wish: he wants to become a suitcase maker. This does not sit well with the grumpy old man. And especially not with his Nazi customers, who make this very clear. One day, Samuel's Jewish family is deported.
